This Week At A Glance

The Third Sunday of each month, in this case, September 17th, you are welcome to not only come and hear a very good message to last you through the week, but you can help your less fortunate neighbors by dropping non-perishables in the grocery carts just inside the front entrance of the church. The carts are filled for the local food bank once each month. Your help is needed and welcome. Stay after the service Sunday for a free coffee bar and small group sessions on a variety of topics.

At 9am this Sunday, Pastor Keith will share his thoughts about a section of the beautiful part of the Bible called The Psalms. Child care is provided so you can relax and make new friends and ask those questions you always wanted answered.

Ladies “Restore” retreat still has openings for this October at Epworth Forest gorgeous new facilities in Kosciusko County. Stay a day or sign up for all three and enjoy a variety of workshops, amazing worship, special prayer walks and much more. Food included. Fusion Youth Group will meet at Hewitt’s house for a pool party from 5:00-7:00pm.


This Week At A Glance

This church always supports Day of Hope.  This year the event will be on Saturday August 5th. Day of Hope provides breakfast for families, free haircuts for kids, shoes for kids, and book bags/backpacks for kids K-5th grade attending South Whitley Elementary. (Book bags include school supplies based on the school supply list for each grade (k-5th) at South Whitley Elementary.)
 
Rainbow pre-school is registering kids for the 2017-2018 school year.  The morning session is already filled but afternoon openings are still available.  Contact Traci Kreider through the church office at 260-723-5107. 
 
On Sunday. August 6th, come and hear a beautiful message by Pastor Keith.  There will be much to take home and sustain you through the week.  The title of this inspirational speech is “God can use you too…”  Based on Matthew 9:35 through 10:8, it will speak to your heart.
This is also communion Sunday so come and find many blessings with this friendly organization where the service starts at 9am, the fun and lively coffee fellowship follows the service, and immediately after coffee, smaller groups convene for more informative and fun opportunities to make new friends and  discuss questions you’ve always wanted answered! 


This Week At A Glance

If you stop in to South Whitley UMC next Sunday morning, July 23rd, around 9am you will be privileged to find yourself surrounded by some very wonderful things.  A positive message you can draw on the entire following week, ministries to help your children, awesome music, ministries to help the community, and the opportunity to meet some warm and welcoming friends. This Week At A Glance

On June 11 at 9am you will be blessed to hear a continuation of Pastor Keith’s message explaining things from the view of Acts 2 verses 21-47.  You will hear a wonderful expositor describe the scene during those amazing times of signs and wonders and what is now called The Pentecost.

Coffee Fellowship right after the 9:00 am service will allow you to make new friends.  Small groups covering a variety of topics meet following coffee. Save the date of June 25 for a new small group series you may find interesting on Defending Your Faith and includes understanding Islam. Popcorn prayer continues each Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:00 pm. Happy April 2nd at South Whitley UMC!  This will be a communion Sunday and to welcome spring we will also welcome a very special guest speaker.  Dave Neckers, the United Methodist Northeast District Superintendent, will provide an entertaining and informative sermon. There will be no youth meeting this week due to spring break, but choir preparations continue for Easter in case you would like to participate.  Just contact Michele Payton for additional information at her email:  worshiparts@southwhitleyumc.com.  Remember child care is provided and Time of Growth hour featuring children’s and youth programming, plus adult small group meetings along with a free coffee bar are held following the 9 am service each Sunday.  Hope to see you there! 


This Week At A Glance

This Sunday Pastor Chris Stahlman will continue his exciting “Courageous Faith” series in both the 8:30am blended service as well as the 10am modern service. You will enjoy the coffee bar between the two services which opens up at 9:30am.

There is something for everyone in this growing vibrant church. Fusion for the youth will meet at Klepinger’s home from 6-8pm on Sunday Oct 23rd. Starting on November 1st both men and women will have a chance to drop off their kids in child care, and join a small group study. The men’s study will be led by Pastor Chris, the women’s study will be led by Cindy Stahlman, and both will run for 6 weeks from 6:30-7:30pm every Tuesday evening.
 
Zumba classes are resuming Wednesday, Oct 19th at 7pm. Contact the church office if you are interested in participating in this fun and active group.
 
Children’s ministry director, Julie Klepinger is preparing for our annual Trunk or Treat, which will be open to anyone from 4-6pm on October 29th. You will find decorated cars, trunks, hot chocolate, and lots of treats, in the back parking lot of the church (6685 W SR14, South Whitley).

A Journey to Joshua–what made him so powerful?  This topic will be of much interest throughout the month of October as we learn from PC many new insights into the life of Joshua.  Remember new service times are 8:30 am and 10:00 am with coffee bar between and small groups meeting at a variety of convenient times.  You are invited to a fabulous fall festival to be held at the home of Jim and Jeanette Eberhart’s on October 8 beginning at 4pm.  Bring a salad or dessert and everything else is provided!  This event is fun for all ages, bring your lawn chair and enjoy!  More info about it at 260-723-5107. 

 
Youth Fusion will meet the next evening October 9 at Klepinger’s 6-8 pm.  Back-pack meal ministry can still use help.  Call the above number to volunteer and send kids home with good nourishment for the weekends.

Dr. Sherilyn R. Emberton, the 13th President of Huntington University will be the guest speaker at South Whitley UMC on Sunday October 2nd for both the 8:30 am and 10:00 am services.  The Gospel Choir from Huntington U is also expected to join Dr. Emberton. Small discussion groups will also meet at 8:30 am or 10:00 am, in various classrooms, alternating with the sanctuary service.
 
October 1st is planned as a Youth Service Day in which Youth Ministry Director, Tony Klepinger, will find many interesting ways to occupy the youth in genuine acts of service to the community.
 
A rewarding membership class will be offered from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday October 23rd at the church lower level social hall. Child care and children’s church are offered each Sunday.

Warm and welcoming people will greet you anytime you drop in to visit a service.



This Week At A Glance

An impressive number of people were baptized last Sunday at the amazing ceremony at River City Campground in South Whitley.  Thank you River City for your hospitality!  This coming week even more excitement and enrichment is awaiting you.  Pastor Chris Stahlman will be leading a short service on Sunday morning at 9:00am followed by willing hands in casual clothing going out into our local community and offering all kinds of services and help to anyone who asks for help.  Lawn mowing, vacuuming, trimming bushes, small repairs, mending clothing, washing windows, small painting jobs, weeding, or you name it!  Call the church office at 260-723-5107 and we will come to you and help with any and all we are capable of doing until around noon Sunday.  No charge–free service.  BUT That is not all!  Sunday evening September 4 you will want to arrive at the SWUMC fellowship hall downstairs at 5:30pm for a free meal–that’s right, no charge!  Right after the meal you will be invited to see the nationally high rated movie God’s Not Dead 2.  Again…no charge! This movie will bless your whole family with positive inspiration and hope.  Please consider joining all of us this Sunday for a day and evening that will make you glad you came!  Child care provided during the movie..again..no charge!

What is a “Spiritual Olympian?”  Join others this Sunday at 8:30 am or 11:00 am to hear the excellent explanation that will be given by Pastor Chris Stahlman.  This effervescent and engaging pastor always provides wonderful memories that help support his congregation for the following week. 
 
There are many programs offered by this vibrant and growing church that will benefit you and your family.  A women’s group meets at 6:30pm Tuesdays to discuss “Total Wellness.” The annual Days of Hope event will be Saturday August 6th when backpacks filled with school supplies for South Whitley Elementary students, a free breakfast, and haircuts are provided for returning students.  If you are interested in helping South Whitley UMC reach out and touch our community you can contact the church office at 260-723-5107
