This Week At A Glance

Exciting times ahead (in case you missed the arrow through the apple experience last Sunday!) in a new series by Pastor Chris Stahlman.  The message is offered at both the 8:30 am Vintage service, as well as the 11:00 am New Wine Service. Coffee and refreshments are offered between each message along with an opportunity to visit any of several small groups that are "digging deeper." 

Many programs are available for participation including GriefShare on Mondays at 6:30 pm, Women's Bible Study on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, Praise and Worship team 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Wednesdays, Zumba on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm and Cub Scouts on Thursdays at 6:30 pm.  "Fill the cart" helps the local food pantry each 3rd Sunday, so please bring non-perishables.  Potato Bar Camp Fundraiser on January 25 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Free Will donation with all proceeds toward camp scholarships for kids.

This Week At A Glance

The Vision and Mission are part of a two week series by Pastor Chris Stahlman.  Join us this Sunday, January 18th for a message that will send you out with new purpose in your life.  The early service at 8:30 am and the later service at 11:00 am will both carry this important message.  Sandwiched between the two services is a great time for reflection and meeting new friends with a coffee bar and small groups.  The Youth group "JAM" will meet January 18 from 6-8pm at Klepinger's home.  GriefShare, a wonderful series for those dealing with loss, is available again on Mondays at 6:30 pm.  A women's Bible study is held on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and opportunities to join the music and praise teams are always available on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm.  Come give this vibrant and growing church a try.  See why we leave smiling and inspired for the week!



This Week At A Glance

A new series on "Vision" and "Mission" will be the intriguing start this Sunday, January 11th, for Pastor Chris Stahlman.  Two services are held each Sunday morning to accommodate varying schedules.  8:30 am provides the Vintage service followed by coffee time and small group meetings.  At 11:00 am the sanctuary opens for the New Wine service with the same message at a slightly different tempo. 

GriefShare resumes on Monday, January 12th at 6:30 pm, Women's Bible Study on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm, Zumba on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm, Praise team meeting and practice on Wednesday evenings, all followed by Cub Scouts on Thursday evenings and JAM for youth on Sunday evenings (generally at Klepinger's home at 6pm).

This Week At A Glance

Following an important sermon on "How to make resolutions you'll actually keep," Pastor Chris Stahlman, will begin a series on January 11 on Visions and Mission Statements.  We will learn the difference between the two and will begin progress toward a bright future for our community.  Meantime, Joel Yeager will provide one of his informative sermons on January 4th.  Between the two services you will have an opportunity to share coffee and refreshments and also to try many small groups that meet during this hour.  A warm welcome awaits you, along with an opportunity to find your life enriched.



Last Blast Of 2014 Sr. High Youth Event

"Last Blast of 2014" is a youth (high school age) Lock-in for the night.  Supervised activities, games, prizes, lots of free food, movies, a live band, a scavenger hunt and much more are planned to keep the evening lively and fun for all attending.  Permission slips are available at the church office and at Whitley High School.  The event is free to community teens and is from 7pm-7am.  Questions can be fielded at musicminister1@gmail.com and 260-839-0106.
 
 



This Week At A Glance

This week the Grinch grew a heart.  What do you think will happen next Sunday, December 21st, when Charlie Brown shows up at South Whitley UMC?  Come and find out what Pastor Chris has in store in both the 8:30 am Vintage Service as well as the 11:00 am New Wine service!  First service this week will include music by many joint voices plus the praise team.  Between services coffee and refreshments are offered along with a chance to join a small group and make new friends.  This Sunday, the praise team members will be treated to their annual event in which thanks are given for their service the past year.  Others (praise team or not) are welcome to join and enjoy the inspiring video by Louis Giglio, whose captivating ways always create a rapt audience.  Second service will repeat the first service message. Continued requests are made for filling the cart during this season to provide food for food bank recipients.  Pastor Stahlman will hold two unique and newly designed Christmas Eve services on December 24th at 7 and 9 pm.  Be prepared to be uplifted and walk away with a satisfied smile on your face!

This Week At A Glance

     Following up on Frosty and Rudolph may be a challenge, but Pastor Chris Stahlman will rise to the task at South Whitley this week with his sermon for the 3rd Sunday of Advent titled "Growing your heart 3 sizes larger this Christmas with the Grinch."  Cleverly cascading through the series called "Unwrapping The Christmas Classics" you and your family will enjoy many blessings coming through this new and dynamic pastor.

     Vintage Service is offered at 8:30am followed by a break for coffee and your choice of many small groups.  Following at 11:00am will be the New Wine service with upbeat music and the same inspiring message.

     Please consider bringing non-perishable food items and help "fill the cart" this Sunday, Dec. 14th. Join us as this church works to provide food and meals for community families. Not necessary but nice if you can share.

     Coming December 21st is the annual Praise Team Party between services with refreshments, fun and an inspirational presentation on video by Louis Giglio.

     High School Youth of the Community may start planning for the New Year's Evening "Lock-In" party to be held at the Church December 31st.  Free  Food, Fun, and Friends await students at this "Blast that Lasts" all night.  You will need your sleeping bag!  Sign up at school or call the church office at 260-723-5107.  It's FREE. 



This Week At A Glance

We learned a lot about Frosty the Snowman and coping with stress this past Sunday from Pastor Chris at SWUMC.  If you want to meet some more of our Christmas Characters and how to make this a joyful season, plan to attend Sunday, December 7th at either the Vintage (8:30 am) or New Wine (11:00 am) service and find out for yourself!  Coffee is served between the services and small groups are also offered for your edification.  You are welcome to join any small group that appeals or has interest to you.  Jesus' birthday party will be Saturday, December 6th from 9 am to noon.  Children 4 years to 5th grade are welcome to attend.  Pre-register at 723-5107, but you will not be turned away if you cannot pre-register.  Come and see what the next three Sundays offer while Pastor Chris works to "Unwrap the Christmas Classics."
