A new series is beginning at South Whitley UMC under the guidance of Pastor Chris Stahlman.  Connecting the Bible in a unique way for those attending these services, the Small Group/Sunday School hour will also carry through on the same theme.  The topic for September 13 will be "courage."  Communion will be offered.  The youth will attend a fall retreat/concert at Epworth Forest on September 13, leaving the church at 2pm. Wow, exciting times ahead.  For the next four months this church is on a mission of…fulfilling their mission.

On September 6 the church has received permission to air a blockbuster movie that has broken attendance records at most showings around the US.  A free meal-yes, really free for your whole family–will precede the movie at 6pm and the movie is also free at 7 pm!  Child care will be provided. 

A new unified Sunday School (9:45am) will begin on September 13th with all classes obtaining the special series titled "3.16". But this week, please take advantage of meeting new friends, sharing good food, and watching a fabulous movie. SWUMC is located at  6685 W. St. Rd 14.  Questions can be answered at 260-723-5107.

A very special guest speaker will share the pulpit with Pastor Chris Stahlman on Sunday August 30th for both the 8:30 am and the 11:00 am services.  Jacob Johnson has experienced a call to minister and recently worked with the youth at camp.  Pastor Stahlman welcomes this invigorating input for the South Whitley attendees. This Week At A Glance

With never a dull moment at South Whitley UMC, prepare to be inspired!  This Sunday Pastor Chris will continue sharing his insights into a study of Peter, a disciple of Christ.  This busy, generous church is actively engaged in our community.  A membership class is available along with Griefshare support group and "Lift" a new Women's Bible study group.  Small groups meet each Sunday between the 8:30 am first service and the 11:00 am second service.  Coffee fellowship time is a friendly place to make new friends between the services. Aug 23rd, youth will meet at JAM from 6 to 8 pm.  Sunday September 6th (6:00pm meal and 7:00 pm movie) will feature the popular "Do You Believe" movie.  The meal and movie are free with main dish provided by SWUMC and with church members providing side dishes and desserts.  Child care is provided.  Following the movie a short time of inspirational music and worship will conclude this generous welcome to all in the community.  Come visit this event and find out why people are excited about the direction this organization is taking in our area.

Saturday, August 8th, a FREE community meal will be offered at the Gazebo in South Whitley (next to the police station).  The outdoor picnic festivities will begin at 11 am and end at 1pm. All are welcome to attend.  Music will accompany the meal and is provided by the professional Michele Payton band from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Bring your lawn chairs. 

August will also bring a new view offered by the dynamic Pastor Chris Stahlman.  He will be bringing a powerful series revolving around the books of I & II Peter in the Bible.  This church supports Days of Hope on August 15th.  Backpacks are being filled and plans for breakfast, haircuts, and more are in the works. 

Services on Sunday are held at 8:30 am and repeated at 11:00 am. Between the services you will find a free coffee bar and an opportunity to attend a breakout session with your choice of topics.

A guest speaker, Dr. Matthew Harman, from Grace College, will speak on Sunday August 2 at both services at South Whitley UMC.

This invigorating speaker will provide a discussion on a subject not often covered.  8:30 am starts the first service, then coffee bar followed by small group meetings in which anyone can participate.  Following these lively and fun meetings the second service is offered at 11:00 am.  The Pixar series has now ended and the remaining dates in August will revolve around the books of Peter I and II in the Bible.  August 8th, the Michele Payton Band will provide music at the free community meal to be held at the South Whitley Gazebo at the pleasant location near the river.  Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music from 11:30am to 12:30pm.  Food donations are encouraged and may be delivered to the church by August 5th.  Contact Marissa Cripe at 260-839-5016 with questions or to offer help.  Youth will also be providing a service day August 1st.  Coming Saturday, August 22nd, will be a "Strength  Finder" workshop for Christians.  Call 260-723-5107 for information about any programs or activities of this growing church.

Bouncing and blowing balloons were cast to the sky by the hundreds last Sunday as part of an exciting sermon offered by Pastor Chris Stahlman.  If you want to find out what he has up his sleeve this coming Sunday July 26th, you need to bring your family to either the 8:30 am or 11:00 am service at 6685 W. SR 14, South Whitley.  Stahlman will be concluding his fascinating Pixar series and there's sure to be an exciting ending.  Also, on July 26th at this church is offering the nationally acclaimed movie by Pixar called "UP" at no charge to the public.  Included with the movie is a free meal for you and your family. Free meal at 6pm and movie will begin at 7pm. Do you like cars?  Drop in next Sunday, July 12, and watch Pastor Chris Stahlman cleverly extract an amazing message utilizing clips from this award winning Pixar series of movies, including the one called "Cars."  You will be astonished at the powerful messages that can be tied to the Bible.  The whole family can appreciate this series, so come on out and have a grand morning with this welcoming and growing group who would like to be your new friends.  First service starts at 8:30 am.  Second service begins promptly at 11:00 am.  Between the two services you will  find a coffee bar, conversation area, and the offer of a fun hour for your children while you attend one of the fascinating small groups where you are free to ask questions that you have always wanted to know about Christianity.  Don't forget the free meal (6pm) and Pixar movie (7pm) coming up on the evening of July 26th! Open to the public at no charge.
